Barbie Bathtime Fun (1990) - my second childhood doll

Probably after my brother stripped most of hair from my first Barbie Fashion Play, I managed to get a second one. I chose it myself, in Pewex, for my birthday, but I don't remember which ones.

It was Barbie Bathtime Fun. It was sold in a set with a special foam that could be used to decorate her outfit. She did not have elaborate clothes - a swimsuit and three sponge rings in the shape of flowers - 2 small and one large. She also had pink earrings and a ring - unfortunately they did not survive to this day.

At the moment, I couldn't find the swimsuit and the two discs, as soon as I found them - I will post the photos of Barbie in her original outfit. For now, I am throwing in below an illustrative photo of the doll in the box, found on the net:

This barbie was in the countryside house, where my brother's children were also playing with her. In 2021, she came with me to the city, where she underwent a refreshing wash and thus joined my collection and ended her toy career.

As I wrote - her outfit was not impressive - I sewed her completely new outfit last year. First, I found a pattern on the Internet and tried the simplest version to see if I could do it. This is how the pink dress was created.

Then I was inspired by the Teresa Fashionistas Style doll - I liked her outfit very much. I even hunted this doll because I like Teresa's mold. Below are the photos found on the internet, so you know what we're talking about:

However, when it turned out that the dress does not have a frill on the back - I felt disappointed and gave up the hunt for Terenia. While cleaning up an old apartment, I found a very similar lace. And this is how the second version of the dress was created, and with it a denim jacket, jewelry and a bag - which, like the swimsuit, got lost somewhere in a country house - if I find it - I will update the photos.

My dress is a bit longer and has a slightly different cut. I sew the jacket without any pattern, so it's not perfect, but it completes the outfit, just like fake boots (fake because they're not from Mattel).

My dress is not fake - the frill is all around! And a jacket is made of a real denim, not a material to resemble it.

Back to my doll - enough of the admiration for the clothes, because that's not the point here - I played with this doll very intensively, more than the hairless Fashion Play. The hair is of original length, but it is dull and nothing will help it anymore, such a charm. The makeup is typical of early 90s dolls - blue eyes, brown eyebrows and pink lips.

Above you can see that the mice, which bit the dimple on her chin, also "played" with her. It's my fault that I should keep the dolls out of the reach of pests.

At the moment, only these two things, visible in the photo above, I have been able to find. A hairbrush and a foam disc - the largest one, which was mainly used as a skirt. Two smaller ones served as a hair ornament and a bracelet. As I wrote, when I find them, I will update this post.
