On October 20, 2021, another horse from the Ski Fun series joined my collection, another Blizzard, this time with a carriage that turns into a sleigh. It was not a planned purchase, it came to me by accident. An advertisement appeared on one of the websites - a horse with a carriage transformed into a sleigh, to which other things related to this series (and as it turned out not only) were added, all at a very attractive price. I watched this ad for some time and finally decided to buy it. The package came to me from Legnica, Poland.
This is what the horse looked like with a sled and an additional chassis, after taking it out of the package. I was very positively surprised when it turned out that the set is practically complete and in really good condition. Apart from the fact that the whole thing was very dirty.
Below is a session before washing - out of the box.
The carriage itself (sledge) was dusty, the fur blanket was almost black in places. However, all decoration stickers were in their place, in very good condition, although some of them were sticking out slightly. All parts were in place, nothing was damaged.
In the sledge version, before cleaning:
And as a carriage with wheels:
Finally, the horse itself in a harness:
The photos clearly show how
dirty it was. After removing the saddle, saddle pad, harness and other ornaments, it looked like this:
He was a dirty mess. After striping him of his harness and all other accessories, my hands were just as dirty.
All Blizzard and carriage
equipment, including
the Barbie clothes I got in the set, went
to the wash.
The horse had undergone
a thorough bath, the
water after its bath, although it still had
a lot of foam, was practically completely
black.
I thought about the name for the new horse for a long time, due to the fact that I already own a mare from the Ski Fun series with an original name - Blizzard, I decided that this time it would be a stallion. The second name of a winter horse is Snowdance, so the horse, for short, will be called Snowy. He is a bit different from Blizia, but that's a topic for a different post.
After taking a bath, Snowy landed in one bowl with clothes in water with fabric conditioner. Telling the truth, only his hair needed that extra bath.
The next step was to comb the mane and tail.
The mane was quite tangled, so I doused it with undiluted fabric conditioner.
It took a while, but the mane was combed out without any problems. The tail looked a little crooked, I was afraid it might come apart when combed out.
One part had to be braided, the hair was very tangled. Again, it took a moment of patience and gentle work with the comb and brush. Here is a cleaned and brushed Snowy.
The next day, when
Snowy's hair was
dry, I
combed it once more with the comb
.
And we went for
a little session in the
garden.
The time has finally come to clear the carriage. For this purpose, I took it apart.
After drying and sticking the protruding parts of the stickers, it remained to put the carriage back together again, put Snowy in his harness and go for a ride. The set I purchased included Barbie Ski Fun clothes, but without the ski suit. The jumpsuit in the set was also from the Ski Fun series, but it belonged to the skating suit. The only doll that came back with me from vacation was my favorite California Girl Summer Surfer. The 21st century doll looks quite interesting in Barbie clothes from the 90s.
The Barbie Ski Fun outfit consisted of:
- ski suit
- jacket
- gaiters
- gloves
- headband
- ski boots
- skis
- poles
- glasses
- lift pass
The equipment of the set with a carriage / sledge included:
- a horse
- carriage body with seat
- wheels with axles
- skids
- a blanket for the carriage
- drawbars
- saddle pad
- bridle
- long string reins
- a special saddle with slots on the reins and holes for attaching the drawbars
- leg warmers
- horseshoes
- mane and tail clips
- earpiece (which is missing in my set)
- a brush
